METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY CONTINUES DEMOLITION OF ILLEGAL BUILDINGS IN PUBLIC AREAS

Van Metropolitan Municipality continues to demolish illegal buildings constructed in public areas. Numerous illegal structures located in an area designated as a park in the zoning plan were demolished with the help of construction machinery.
The Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to create a more livable, healthy, and green city. In this context, the Department of Urban Planning and Development and the Department of Public Order are continuing their efforts to combat illegal structures on municipal land designated as park areas in the city's zoning plan. Teams that have previously demolished numerous illegal and abandoned structures recently identified illegal structures such as abandoned tandir houses and woodsheds in park areas located in the Gündoğdu and Kevenli neighborhoods of the İpekyolu district. Following the necessary warnings, the demolition process was carried out.
Following the demolition, debris removal and cleanup work is also being carried out.
No permission will be granted for this type of illegal construction for the sake of urban aesthetics.
Municipal teams will resolutely combat this type of unauthorized construction to protect public spaces and ensure urban aesthetics, while areas where demolition has taken place will be rehabilitated and turned into parks and green spaces.
"These areas will become more livable."
Stating that the work being done is important for the neighborhoods, Gündoğdu Neighborhood Headman Arafat Maral said, "As a neighborhood, we had a request for a green space. The 24-acre area you see here has been approved for the construction of a park. In this context, the necessary warnings have been made regarding the illegal structures previously built on these areas. Subsequently, demolition work is being carried out, and these areas are being cleaned up. Hopefully, these areas will become more livable. For this reason, we would like to thank our Governor, our district governor, and everyone who contributed to this effort."
"The demolished areas will become parks and green spaces."
Umut Kutbayoğlu, Director of the Building Control and Licensing Branch of the Department of Urban Planning and Development, stated that Van Metropolitan Municipality is continuously working to ensure that citizens live in a healthier and happier environment. "Our work on public spaces continues. We are demolishing abandoned buildings in our park areas located in the Bostaniçi and Kevenli TOKİ regions, which are owned by the Metropolitan Municipality. After demolition, these areas will be cleaned up, turned into parks and green spaces, and made available for use by our citizens."
