PSYCHOLOGICAL FIRST AID TRAINING GIVEN TO VAN METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITY STAFF

Van Metropolitan Municipality organizes Psychological First
Aid (PIY) trainings for its personnel in order to strengthen their preparedness
for disasters and emergencies. The personnel learn how to act more consciously
in possible disaster situations through practical trainings.
Van Metropolitan Municipality continues its in-service
trainings. The Metropolitan Municipality, which organizes seminars periodically
to raise awareness of its personnel on every subject, recently provided
psychological first aid training to the personnel of the Department of Climate
Change and Zero Waste and the Department of Youth and Sports Services.
The training, which was held at the Disaster Coordination
Center (AKOM) building located in the Fidanlık Park campus under the
coordination of the Disaster Affairs Department, was given by Psychologist
Nursel Avcı Erdal. The training provided comprehensive information on the
concepts, basic principles and field application methods of Psychological First
Aid.
Special emphasis was placed on the right approach to
individuals in times of crisis, providing psychological support and reducing
the effects of traumas that may occur after a disaster.
It was also stated that the Psychological First Aid
Trainings carried out within the scope of preparation against disasters will
continue for the personnel of other departments in the coming period.
